What is a Wet Belt?
The Puretech Engine's wet belt runs submerged in oil inside the engine. Wet belts ( or 'belt-in-oil' systems ) are designed to reduce engine friction and improve fuel economy. However, over time, oil contamination and belt wear can cause serious engine damage if not maintained properly. Some models of Ford, Peugeots, Vauxhall uses wet belts are given below,
Many modern Peugeots, especially those with the 1.0 and 1.2 PureTech petrol engines, have wet timing belts. This includes models like the Peugeot 208, 2008, 308, 3008, 5008 and Partner. These wet belts are bathed in oil inside the engine, which differs from traditional dry belts.
Vauxhall models with a wet belt typically use the PSA-derived 1.2L PureTech 3-cylinder turbo charged petrol engine, including certain versions of the Corsa, Astra, Grandland, Crossland, and Combo.
Ford models with EcoBoost and EcoBlue engines often use a "wet belt" system, including the Fiesta, Focus, Transit Connect, and Transit Custom.
